Locals from Dandewado, along with MLA Cruz Silva, are not opposed to the proposed expansion of NH66 but have strongly objected to the highway passing through the village.
An alternative diversion route outside Dandewado has been proposed to address the concerns of residents. The proposal has already received a Communidade NOC, which has been submitted to the Public Works Department (PWD).
Soil testing for the proposed highway alignment remains on hold pending a joint meeting involving highway authorities, Goa PWD officials, local residents and MLA Cruz Silva.
The stakeholders are expected to discuss the proposed alternative alignment and work towards a solution that allows the NH66 expansion to proceed while addressing the concerns of Dandewado residents.
