High-speed collision near Rajasthan’s Dausa triggers massive blaze, leaving several passengers trapped and injured.
At least seven people lost their lives and 22 others sustained injuries after a sleeper bus collided with a trailer before bursting into flames on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Dausa in Rajasthan during the early hours of Wednesday.
The accident occurred at around 2.30 am when the private sleeper bus was travelling from Rishikesh to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. According to officials, the bus was reportedly moving at high speed when it rammed into a trailer, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
Eyewitness videos from the scene showed the bus and trailer engulfed in massive flames, while passengers could be heard crying out for help as the fire spread rapidly.
Authorities said the impact of the collision was so severe that several passengers sleeping on the upper berths were thrown from their seats onto the ground.
Of the seven victims, five succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained in the blaze, while two others died due to head injuries suffered during the crash, officials said.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, rescued the injured and shifted them to nearby hospitals for treatment. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
