The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the sensational Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, to either surrender before the trial court or risk having her bail cancelled.
A Bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice P.B. Varale was hearing a plea filed by the Meghalaya government challenging the High Court’s decision to uphold Sonam’s release on bail.

During the hearing, the apex court suggested that Sonam voluntarily surrender while the trial court records the testimony of key prosecution witnesses. The Bench also indicated that it would be willing to reconsider her bail application on its merits after the crucial stage of the trial.
Sonam Raghuvanshi has been accused of murdering her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya in May 2025. The case attracted nationwide attention due to its shocking nature and the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
The Supreme Court’s observations come as proceedings in the high-profile murder trial continue, with the State seeking to ensure that key witnesses are examined without any influence or interference.
