A woman farmer from Korgao has appealed to local MLA Pravin Arlekar for assistance in reviving her family’s agricultural land, which has remained uncultivated for nearly 23 years due to financial hardships and her husband’s prolonged illness.
Bhagyashree Bhanudas Narse said farming had been the primary source of livelihood for her and her husband for several years. However, they were forced to abandon cultivation after her husband’s health deteriorated. The absence of an adequate water supply further worsened their situation, making it impossible to continue farming.

Determined to restore the family-owned land to cultivation, Narse has requested the MLA to provide a brush cutter machine to clear the dense vegetation that has overtaken the property and a water pump to ensure a reliable water supply for irrigation.
Speaking about her situation, Narse said she and her husband live alone and have no children or other support system. She added that their difficult financial condition has made it challenging to resume farming, but expressed confidence that with the required equipment, she would be able to cultivate the land once again and earn a sustainable livelihood.
She also expressed hope that Arlekar would extend the necessary assistance to help clear the overgrown farm and enable agricultural activities to resume.
Local resident Vinita Mandrekar said supporting struggling farmers and economically weaker families is essential. She noted that MLA Pravin Arlekar has consistently taken the initiative to assist residents in need and urged that a brush cutter and water pump be provided to Narse to encourage farming and bring the fallow land back into productive use.
The case has drawn attention to the need for greater support from the government and elected representatives to help farmers reclaim long-abandoned agricultural land by providing essential equipment and infrastructure.
