The Station House Officer (SHO) of Jubilee Hills Police Station in Hyderabad has been suspended following serious allegations of sexual exploitation, blackmail and criminal intimidation levelled against him by a 31-year-old woman.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar issued suspension orders against SHO U Srinivasulu Reddy, with the announcement made late on Tuesday night.
The officer was initially transferred to the Vacancy Reserve after the woman, a resident of Sangareddy district, lodged a complaint with Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand. Following a preliminary inquiry into the allegations, the Police Commissioner ordered Reddy’s suspension pending a departmental investigation.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the police officer sexually assaulted her, coerced her into undergoing an abortion, and repeatedly threatened and blackmailed her. She also accused him of physically assaulting her.
Authorities have initiated a departmental inquiry into the matter, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
