The recovery of an unidentified man’s body from Torda Creek on Sunday has further inten sified concerns over Goa’s escalating water safety crisis. Registered as an unnat ural death case under the BNSS, the incident comes on the heels of an O Heral do report exposing a stag gering 72 drowning deaths across the State in just the first six months of 2026. Porvorim Police have issued an urgent public appeal to identify the de ceased man. Investigators believe he is between 25 and 30 years of age, ap proximately 5 feet 5 inch es tall with a thin build, fair complexion, an ov al-shaped face, and a me dium-grown moustache.
Tattoos on both arms and hands may help establish his identity. Police said that when the body was found, he was wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt, black shorts, and black sandals. Police said information from the public could play a cru cial role in identifying the deceased and helping investiga tors notify the family. This latest incident highlights a year-round public safety crisis.
