The Village Panchayat of Calangute on Thursday sealed four business establishments at Saunta Vaddo for allegedly operating without valid documents and permissions from the Panchayat or other competent authorities.
The establishments sealed were Legion VIII Roman Speakeasy Bar, Karma, Cape Town Café/Downtown, and Haveli By Club Miami.

According to notices issued by the Panchayat, the establishments had previously been served notices under Section 72-A of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, directing them to produce the required documents and permissions.
The Panchayat said the owners failed to submit the necessary documents despite being given an opportunity to do so. The matter was subsequently placed before the Panchayat body, which resolved to seal the premises.
Panchayat officials carried out the sealing action at around 4 pm on Thursday and served notices on the respective establishments.
The Panchayat maintained that the businesses were allegedly operating without valid permissions from the local body or any other competent authority.
