The Bombay High Court at Goa has dismissed the challenge to the Goa Municipalities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, paving the way for elections to all 11 municipal councils. The Court directed the State Election Commission to complete the delimitation, reservation and election process, with results to be declared by January 2, 2027, at the latest. The Court also upheld the SEC’s decision to discontinue the earlier delimitation exercise, while directing authorities to use legally valid material from the previous process wherever applicable.
