Nearly 300 Indians are among around 1,500 people reported missing following devastating flash floods that swept parts of Nepal and Tibet, Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal said.
The large-scale flooding has triggered an urgent search and rescue operation, with authorities working to trace those reported missing and establish contact with their families.
The number of Indians among the missing has raised concern in India, as efforts continue to gather information about people who may have been travelling or working in the affected regions.
Nepalese authorities, along with agencies involved in the rescue efforts, are continuing operations in areas affected by the floods. The disaster has caused widespread destruction and disrupted connectivity in several locations.
The latest figures underline the scale of the catastrophe and the challenges facing rescue teams as they search for hundreds of people whose whereabouts remain unknown.
