Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared a heartfelt message of support for the victims and families affected by the catastrophic flash floods in Nepal. Taking to social media platform X, the former batter highlighted the severe emotional toll of the crisis, particularly for those still awaiting news of missing family members.
“There is perhaps no greater uncertainty than not knowing whether someone you love is safe. My heart goes out to all the families affected by the devastating floods in Nepal, especially those still waiting for news. Praying for their loved ones and for the rescue teams working tirelessly to reach them,” Tendulkar posted.
The severe flooding struck following a massive surge of water, sediment, and boulders moving through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems. According to updates from Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the disaster has claimed at least 359 lives, with Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, and Dhading among the hardest-hit districts. Hundreds of people—including more than 500 foreign nationals—remain missing or unreachable.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that relief and recovery efforts remain underway. Operations have successfully rescued 84 Indian nationals, including 63 workers associated with the Trishuli-I project and 21 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu who were visiting for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. However, authorities continue working to trace roughly 290 Indian citizens who are still uncontactable across the flood-ravaged regions.
Tendulkar acknowledged the brave efforts of first responders working under perilous conditions. Search and rescue operations continue in full force across the impacted river basins as international agencies step in to provide support.
