Internal friction surfaced within the Curchorem Congress unit during a meeting called to review preparations for the Goy Rakhon Yatra and assess local party performance. Addressing Working President Sunil Kawthankar and District President Rajesh Verekar, senior workers voiced sharp discontent regarding the leadership of former GPCC president Amit Patkar and Block President George.
Cadres alleged that local party operations severely deteriorated during Patkar’s tenure, claiming he remained largely inaccessible. Highlighted grievances included an inactive block committee for over 18 months, poor communication surrounding official party events, and severe mismanagement during the last Lok Sabha election—where nearly 25 polling booths were reportedly left without assigned polling agents.
To restore party strength, attendees urged top leadership to replace Block President George immediately and explicitly prohibit Amit Patkar from interfering in Curchorem’s organisational decisions moving forward.
