Goa is gearing up to celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with Catholic communities across the state preparing for the Marian feast through prayer, devotion and family celebrations.
Novenas are already underway in churches and chapels in different parts of Goa as the faithful prepare for the feast with renewed devotion to Mother Mary. For many Catholic families, the novena is also an occasion to welcome an image of Mother Mary into their homes, bringing family members together in prayer and seeking her maternal protection.
The celebration extends beyond church premises, with families using the occasion to strengthen bonds and reflect on values of faith, love and hope. Many devotees also see Mother Mary as an example of humility, devotion and compassion.
Speaking ahead of the celebrations, Fr Peter D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Snows Church, Raia, appealed to the faithful to participate wholeheartedly in the novena and feast.
He encouraged families to make the celebrations a meaningful spiritual experience by praying together and drawing inspiration from Mother Mary’s life and faith.
A festive atmosphere is already visible at Our Lady of Snows Church in Raia, while colourful decorations near the chapel at Tembim, Raia, have added to the celebratory mood.
As the feast approaches, Catholic communities are preparing to come together in prayer and celebration, welcoming the Nativity of Mother Mary with faith and joy.
