Congress leader and advocate Pratima Coutinho has criticised the BJP-led Goa government over the newly launched Ujjwala Scheme, questioning its earlier promise of providing three free LPG cylinders to Goan households every year.
Coutinho alleged that the latest announcement was an “election jumla”, claiming that the government was making the promise with elections approaching.

“Where is your promise that Goans will get three cylinders free per year?” Coutinho asked, urging the government not to “fool Goans” with the announcement.
She further alleged that while beneficiaries may receive around ₹3,000 in their bank accounts, the amount could effectively be recovered through increased costs after the elections.
Coutinho accused Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP of making the announcement for electoral gains and questioned the government over the implementation of its earlier promise.
The Goa government, meanwhile, has announced that eligible beneficiaries under the Goa Ujjwala Scheme will receive financial assistance equivalent to the average cost of three domestic LPG refills per financial year, with payments to be transferred directly to their bank accounts.
