Margao: A large crowd gathered at the Margao Municipal Council on Saturday to avail benefits under the Goa Ujjwala Scheme, leading to a rush at the civic body’s premises.
In view of the heavy crowd, the doors of the Margao Municipality were temporarily closed to manage the situation.
Congress leader Savio Coutinho criticised the government over the rush, describing the scheme as “another jumla” ahead of the elections.
The scheme, launched by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, provides eligible beneficiaries with financial assistance equivalent to the average cost of three domestic LPG refills per financial year.
