The Goa Police Department is facing a severe administrative strain due to a major shortfall in the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) cadre. Out of 70 sanctioned DySP posts in the state, a alarming 58 remain vacant, leaving only 12 active officers to handle supervisory duties.
This severe deficit has forced Superintendents of Police (SPs) to take on additional DySP responsibilities across multiple jurisdictions. Overburdening senior officers risks undermining immediate supervision and weakening the overall efficiency of law enforcement operations.

In a formal note addressed to the Chief Secretary of Goa, Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai urged the government to take swift, rule-based action. He emphasized the urgent need to expedite promotions for eligible Police Inspectors awaiting their rightful advancement. Sardesai highlighted that filling these 58 vacancies promptly is essential to restoring strong supervisory oversight and ensuring responsive policing across the state.
