Sakhali: Five-day-old Lord Ganesha idols from the Chariwada and Ghadiwada localities of Virdi-Sakhali were immersed with traditional fervour as residents came together to celebrate their long-standing community tradition.
Residents of the two wadas, or neighbourhoods, continue to follow the custom of conducting a collective immersion ceremony. As part of the tradition, the immersion does not begin until all the Ganesha idols from the respective households have reached the designated immersion spot.

The ceremony includes the bursting of fireworks, performing Aarti and collectively carrying out the immersion of the idols. Residents say the practice has been preserved over generations and continues to bring the community together during the festival.
Resident Vithoba Ghadi said villagers remain committed to keeping the tradition alive and ensuring that the younger generation and children of the village learn about and carry forward the custom.
