The Delhi government has announced a series of measures to control pollution and traffic congestion ahead of the winter season, including stricter enforcement of the “No PUC, No Fuel” policy and the addition of 150 electric buses.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the new buses will take Delhi’s total e-bus fleet to more than 700. The city currently has 588 electric buses in operation. The government will also conduct a crackdown on end-of-life vehicles at all 500 petrol pumps equipped with automatic number-plate recognition cameras.

A public awareness campaign will be launched in October, while pollution-under-control centres will be upgraded in November. Authorities will also focus on 62 identified pollution hotspots, of which 42 have reportedly been brought under control.
From November 1, parking charges at authorised sites will be doubled. Offices under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will operate from 8.30 am to 5 pm, while Delhi government offices will function from 10 am to 6.30 pm until February 28.
The government will also implement a 50% work-from-home arrangement for government and private offices during the winter months. The measures aim to reduce vehicular emissions and manage pollution-related risks in Delhi-NCR.
