PONDA: The Dudhsagar river water has turned red again, horrifying locals in Khandepar. Since there was a potential threat to people’s health, locals from Kodli-Dabal visited an establishment in Kalay village to take stock of the situation.
The locals led by Kirlapal panchayat’s panch Ramakant Gaonkar tried to visit the said establishment only to find the road leading to the spot where they discharge unprocessed water was dug up.

Meanwhile, the locals have informed Dharbandora PWD and the Water Resources department regarding the contaminated water.
“We tried to visit the establishment in Kalay where they discharge the unprocessed water straight into the Dudhsagar river after washing the mined goods. However, the road leading to the spot was dug up making it difficult to reach there. We have threatened officials the company officials to protest outside their gates if this continues,” said panch Ramakant Gaonkar.
The locals were also unhappy since Tuesday was the seventh day of the immersion ceremony of Chaturthi and they were supplied with contaminated water.
