PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday informed the Assembly that the industrial sector has created nearly 16000 jobs in the State.
Parrikar, replying on cut-motion on industries said the State has also introduced various subsidies to the industrial sector. He said that in the last three years 885 MSME units have been established with employment for 9165 and an investment of Rs 422 cr. In the service MSME, Rs 583 cr has come in as investment and 4696 jobs created.
From new units cleared by IPB 884 jobs have been generated and an investment of Rs 274 cr brought in he said. In the expansion of units, he added, that 26 units brought in investment of Rs 778 cr and generated 1661 jobs.
“Totally all this adds to 16000 jobs in last three years in the industrial sector,” he said, adding, “I have not even added the IT and hotel industry to this.”
On employment of Goans, he expressed his inability to ban recruitment of outsiders saying under Constitution of India anyone can work and earn anywhere. “I don’t know under which Act this can be done but we have tried to encourage industries to give more incentive and subsidies if they employ Goans,” he said.
