The appeal comes after the North Goa Collector refused to provide a detailed report on IIT project coming up at Guleli panchayat in Shel Melauli village through the Right to Information Act.

It may be recalled that the villagers had sought the detailed report on IIT project.  The Collector had said the information sought by villagers cannot be provided by the collector’s office as the locals have not demonstrated the larger public interest as required under Section 8(1)(d) of the Right to Information Act, 2005.

“We had sought for a detailed information report on proposed IIT at Melauli village in Sattari taluka through RTI Act, 2005 from the North Goa Collector on June 1, 2020. But the Collector refused to provide the detailed information on proposed IIT project,” claimed Shubham Shivolkar, a villager.

“Now we filed appeal in the North Goa Collector’s office on July 15 seeking detailed information on all questions asked by the villagers on proposed IIT project in Melauli,” they said.
