Woman held for theft of antique pots

CALANGUTE: The Calangute Police have arrested a Karnataka native of house break and theft of antique copper containers (pots) worth Rs 40,000, at a house in Candolim.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said that one Matilda Fernandes, a resident of Camotim Wado, Candolim on Tuesday complained that an unknown person had committed theft of antique copper containers from her house.  Four antique copper containers worth Rs 40,000 were stolen by breaking into the house on Monday early morning. 
The police registered an offence under Sections 454 and 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and started investigation. On examining the CCTV footage, the police found a woman involved in the crime. 
Accordingly intelligence was gathered and a team was formed to identify the accused. After hectic efforts, the accused was identified as Sonu Chawan, a resident of Kuchelim, Mapusa and native of Gadag in Karnataka.
The accused was arrested on Wednesday and the police have recovered all the four copper containers from a scrapyard located in Saligao.
