PONDA: The operators of 15 movable kiosks at Shapur, Nagamasjid and Haveli in Curti-Khandepar panchayat jurisdiction fear that they will lose their livelihood after PWD Work Division XV issued notices directing them to dismantle their kiosks or clear the site within seven days.
The PWD notices stated that people have complained that these gaddas selling omelette pao and vada pao are occupying the land acquired by PWD NH and causing distraction to traffic.

Addressing to media persons, MGP leader Ketan Bhatikar along with the gadda operators said, “People are unempl.oyed due to COVID crisis and the government should not put them into further trouble.”
He said, “Some gadda operators have been earning their livelihood for over fifteen years and if these kiosks are cleared suddenly then it will be difficult for them to survive. Since the past six months the gaddas were closed due to COVID crisis and have recently opened their business. They earn their livelihood by operating these gaddas. Considering the COVID pandemic people are left without jobs and at least at this stage the government should protect people’s livelihood.”
Sumati Chavan, a gadda owner said, “I have been operating my kiosk for the last 15 years and my family depends on it. The government should protect our livelihood.”
