A new slum at Campal!

If one walks down the Dayanand Bandodkar Marg along the Campal Parade ground, adjacent to the milk booth, one can see that scores of mendicants have descended here and their numbers keep on increasing by the day.
It is inconceivable how the city officials have been tolerating this brazen illegal occupation of one of the most important open spaces in the city, by migrants.
Entire families are doing everything from cooking, eating, drinking, washing, sleeping and relieving themselves out in the open.
This indeed qualifies for one of the filthiest places, right in the heart of the capital city!
Here in Campal we have one more Chimbel or Moti Dongor in the making, unless quick action is taken by the city officials.
When a complaint was registered about these migrants occupying the Campal Parade ground it was intimated that they were evicted by the authorities, but some NGO took up their cause and this has emboldened these people to bring in more of their ilk and take over this vital ground in the city.
So it is not always right to blame political parties that they harbour such people, as potential vote banks.  In this case the NGO is to blame.
Those NGOs which take up the cause of these people should source their own shelters for those whose cause they fight.
Would the government use the same yardstick if some poor Goan families set up their residence in public spaces?
It is high time these people who create nuisance in public places, and can also indulge in for crimes and other nuisance are evicted, and cleanliness maintained on the Parade ground and the vicinity.
