This year’s edition of
Vh1Supersonic has turned out to not only be a feast for one’s ears, but also
the eyes. Visitors will be excited and intrigued to see the creative and
colourful artworks scattered around the beat-thumping festival grounds. A few of these pieces of art are created by
Anna Rewinska. She is a senior artist who has created the colourful and
‘selfie-inducing’ graffiti artwork for Vh1 Supersonic.
“Music is the main inspiration
for my art”, Anna says. She is inspired by drum and bass and jungle music,
while creating art pieces that are inter-related. “Music also needs a visual
side,” Anna mentions. “Some people who make music sometimes see colours and
shapes. Most of my pieces are about the freedom that music gives an individual,
enjoyment and happiness. That is what I perceive through sound. For some
reason, I get visual ideas responding to emotions and feelings when I listen to
electronic dance music, because it tells you a story and takes you on a certain
journey. I’m really fond of that,” she adds.

Anna previously studied
architecture in Brighton, England. But that was not the path she sought to
follow. As she continued to study she found her niche. Having discovered
electronic music, she realised that there was an innate need in her to give
back. She loved drum and bass and jungle so much, that she wanted to contribute
to the movement with her skills, but at the time didn’t know how.
With a life-long passion for
drawing, she decided to follow her heart and after graduating, she decided to
become a visual artist. Dub FX was her
greatest inspiration, and the music pulled her through her education. As such,
she created a painting for Dub FX in tribute and from there the ball kept on
rolling. “I love doing it, I guess the universe added some magic to it and made
it happen,” she says.
Anna’s amazing graffiti art is on
display at the Vh1 Supersonic venue in Candolim.
