GSEC had received a total 326 applications for the ZP elections to be held on March 18. Of these, 166 nominations were received for North Goa, while 160 nominations were received for South Goa.
Post scrutiny on Sunday, 254 nominations were accepted, which include 121 in North and 133 in South Goa. A total of 72 nominations have been rejected.
The withdrawal of nominations will take place on Monday. While the elections are scheduled on March 18, the counting will take place on March 20.
These ZP elections are the first ever elections held on party lines. Ruling BJP-MGP-GVP alliance is contesting on party symbols while Congress and NCP have decided to back
individuals.
The GSEC has raised the expenditure limit for candidates from the existing Rs 75,000 to Rs 5 lakh per candidate. The expenditure limit for Assembly elections is Rs 20 lakh.
