PANJIM, DEC 23 Putting up a stunning display, Standrik Colaco won all six rounds to emerge champion of invitation chess tournament conducted by Cortalim Chess Club on December 19 and 21, at Panjim church hall.

Putting up a stunning display, Standrik Colaco won all six rounds to emerge champion of invitation chess tournament conducted by Cortalim Chess Club on December 19 and 21, at Panjim church hall.
Niraj Saripalli with five points stood second while Suhas Asnodkar with four points secured the third place.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Cyrus Pereira and Kelvin De Lima, both with four points each.
Special trophies for upcoming players rated below ELO 1800 were awarded to – (1st) Mohinish Naik, (2nd) Pranav Zantye and (3rd) Rohan Ahuja. Fr Peter Mascarenhas gave away the    prizes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Peter Carvalho thanked the parishioners of Panjim church for permitting Cortalim Chess Club the use of their premises to conduct the tournament and hoped many more such tournaments would be held in the future. The next tournament is scheduled for February 2009.
