Goa veterans visit Lisbon, Paris on goodwill tour, play friendly matches

RAIA: The Goa veterans football team were on a goodwill visit to Lisbon-Portugal and Paris-France and played friendly matches, recently.

The first Match was played on the famous Atletico Clube De Porto Salvo ground. The Goa veterans lead by Agnelo Fonseca played their hearts out. Elvis Goes, former Sesa/Dempo SC player, now based in Lisbon, also played for Goa veterans, who lost the match 2-4.

The two goals were netted through Pele Fernandes and Fr Salvador Carvalho via penalty.

It was wonderful to see such professionalism in some of the Benfica and Sporting Club, former players and other veterans. 

The second match was played under floodlights at Complexo Desportivo Municipal de Ouressa (Arsenal 72). 

Though the weather was cold and windy, Goa veterans led by Pele managed to hold the Portuguese veterans 4-4, with goals coming from Eddie Fernandes, Pele, Hipolito Dias and Abram D’Mello.

Oscar, Balde, Francisco and Fernando scored for the Portuguese side.

The Goa veterans consisted of Eddie Fernandes, Agnelo Fonseca, Fr Salvador Carvalho, Alberto Pinheiro, Luis Vas, Abram D’Mello, Jose Antao, Jeetu Parkar, Hipolito Dias, Pele Fernandes, Pio Agnel Fernandes and Francisco.
