PONDA: A truck driver was caught red-handed by locals in Curti Khandepar while he was dumping garbage by the roadside along the NH at Kerya and handed over to the police on Sunday.
The police were immediately summoned and the detained vehicle used in the offence was handed over to the men in uniform.

Rocky Dias and some vigilante locals stopped the truck driver as he was dumping thermacol and other garbage and informed the police and the panchayat authorities.
The locals however were upset as the truck driver was not penalised even after committing the offence and said that if offenders are let off the leash, then they would keep committing the same offences time on and again.
The locals also demanded that the Panchayat impose a stiff penalty against the errant truck driver for dumping garbage in the open and creating a nuisance.
