Oath before God flashed before my eyes: Quepem Congress MLA

Asserting that he could meet his voters fearlessly, unlike the defector MLAs, he said he would ensure the development of his constituency despite being in the opposition.

QUEPEM: Saying that he did not have the power to betray the people of Quepem, who had voted him into power as a Congress candidate, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, one of the three remaining with the Congress party, said that the memory of the oath that he took before God flashed in front of his eyes during the defections.  “Some people of Quepem constituency wanted me to join the BJP and some did not want me to defect. But the people elected me as a Congress candidate, and so, I don’t have the power to betray them,” he said. “The people of Quepem Constituency have been betrayed before. If I had followed the same path, there would have been no difference between me and the previous MLAs,” D’Costa said, speaking at a programme organised by the Department of Agriculture, for farmers in Morpirla.

Asserting that he could meet his voters fearlessly, unlike the defector MLAs, he said he would ensure the development of his constituency despite being in the opposition. “I will help every farmer in Quepem constituency, to benefit from every scheme of the government. I have five offices to ensure that people’s work is done properly, and the people should take advantage of this,” he added.
