Varun Carvalho needs no introduction in the music circle in Goa.
A dentist by profession, he has taken his passion for music to greater heights
by not just performing his own songs but even giving hope to children and
teenagers through his Rise Nation Army project.
With the Coronavirus pandemic not only
causing damage to the health of its victims, it has put life on hold for
everyone. The social and cultural lifestyle of the people have come to a
standstill with concerts and live performances getting cancelled. That gave
Varun the idea to connect with his audience through the digital platform. “I am
doing as much of social distancing as I can do but we have to get out to go to
supermarkets and shops to stock up. As a band, there are no shows and even the
Rise Nation awareness campaigns have stopped because there are no schools and
colleges open. People are working from home, working distantly and especially
people working abroad are facing a tough time,” says Varun Carvalho.

He further adds, “The only thing that can keep you strong is
your immunity and for it to be healthy you have to be positive at all times. As
people don’t have the chance to go out, music has proved to be very helpful.
With the live streaming of my concert, I hope to bring some relief in their
lives, right in their homes.”
The concert will be live streamed on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at
6pm. It will be only Varun and his Rise Nation band comprising of Cajie on
bass, Gaston on drums, Yatin on tablas and Felly on flute and keyboard that
will be performing live which will be live streamed without any audience in the
room. “We will upload the link on our social media page and the audience can
watch it live,” he explains.
The band will perform 12 songs with new tracks from their new
album, ‘Reloaded’ as well as songs from their unreleased album. “We have also
composed a song on Corona, ‘Let’s fight the Corona’ which is an educational
song on how we can keep ourselves safe from the virus. We are also hoping to
shoot the video soon.”
Varun
also sang the official FC Goa Anthem ‘Forca Goa’ which is played before and
during the match. The lyrics is written by Hilary Gomes with music by Mukesh
Ghatwal and Varun. To conclude Varun says, “music will hopefully give positive
vibrations for Goans as music is very important especially at this time to keep
hopes high. Musicians have an important role to play and to keep the music
going.
