PONDA: After the Forest department set a trap to capture the black panther at Vandalya, Dharbandora, the big black cat changed its course and started to target domestic animals from the neighbouring village of Talsaay instead. The black panther has been on the prowl in Sacorda, Gawaliwada and other nearby villages over the last few days.
The forest department officials had set the trap at Vandalya on November 14, but since that very night, the black panther has not returned to the area. The wild animal had preyed on around 25 domestic animals from Sacorda for the past one year before making Vandalya village its latest target. The big cat was captured on a CCTV camera installed at the house of local Atul Naik, following which the Forest department Collem had set the trap.
