PANJIM: A day after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar made written submission to the Union Ministry for Environment and Forests (MoEF) over difficulties his government has to face due to the National Green Tribunal’s orders and notices, RTI activists have approached the Tribunal with a contempt petition against Parrikar for his controversial statements.
NGT Pune has fixed the pre-admission arguments on the contempt petition filed by three activists against Parrikar on October 1. The petitioners Kashinath Shetye, Ketan Govekar and Pradip Kakodkar have stated that Parrikar was making statements against the tribunal in various fora.
The petitioners have pleaded that the contempt be moved against the chief minister for his statements like “NGT is not acting like a tribunal but like a High Court” which
was made on the floor of the House during the recent Goa Assembly session.
