A fine hat-trick by Allwyn helped Bardez Veterans trounce Ponda Veterans 4-1 while Shivaji Sports Academy, Kolhapur prevailed over Salgaocar Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of All-India Veterans football tournament jointly organised by PVC Association, Parra and Bardez Veterans, at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, on Wednesday.
In the inaugural match, Bardez began in right earnest and shot into the lead through Bruno Coutinho. Allwyn later doubled the lead for Bardez.
Down by two goals, Ponda Veterans fought back and reduced the margin through Vincy.
Bardez led 2-1 at the break.
Changing over, Allwyn demolished the rival defence and netted two more goals to complete his hat-trick.
In the second encounter, hot favourites Salgaocar SC bowed out losing 4-5 to Shivaji SA, Kolhapur after a goalless draw.
In the penalty shootout, Chandrakant Naik, Shivaji, Patil, Amar and Shankar converted for Kolhapur while Roque, Lawrence, Alfred and Mario were on target for Salgaocar.
