MARGAO: Accused Purshotam Keni, 38, a native of Bhatkal, Karnataka and owner of Udupi Restaurant at the IDC, Cuncolim who was arrested by the Cuncolim police on April 17 has been remanded to two days police custody when produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao.
It may be recalled that the Cuncolim police registered an offence of rape under section 376 IPC against Keni upon complaint from a 30 year old victim widow from Sheler, Canacona working as a helper in a restaurant.
In her complaint to police, she stated that accused Keni induced her and taken her to his restaurant between December 23, 2013 and March 31, 2014 and had forcible sexual intercourse with her several times. The accused was absconding after the offence was registered against him.
PSI Tukaram V Chavan is conducting investigating in the case.
