…says CM should resign to ensure free and fair polls

PANJIM: Claiming that the attack on the BJP candidate late Thursday night was a stage managed attack; Congress demanded that to ensure free and fair elections the Chief Minister should resign from office.
GPCC media convenor Trajano D’Mello said, “We had alleged that this is stage managed because when Vishnu Wagh was assaulted in Revora where Nilkanth Halarnkar had invited him, then the BJP had alleged that it was party leadership responsible for the attack.”
Meanwhile, taking objection to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s refusal to give a commitment on the removal of off-shore casinos from River Mandovi, Congress has alleged that ruling dispensation was being financed by the casino lobby.
GPCC spokesperson Urfan Mulla said despite a representation from the BJP state president, the Chief Minister is yet to take the issue seriously. “The BJP president Vinay Tendulkar says if needed then we will close down the casinos and the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant says he will consider the representation. Both will never want to shut down the casinos in the State because the casino lobby has been financing them during every election”, he alleged.
