CALANGUTE: The Calangute Police busted a sex racket arresting two pimps and rescued two victim girls at Candolim late Sunday evening. The accused were caught red handed while in a process of sealing the deal over supply of girls to prospective customers. The accused are in the custody of Calangute Police while the victim girls have been sent to the protective home at Merces.
According to Calangute Police, the raid was carried out between 10 pm and 1 am Sunday night by a Calangute Police team headed by PI Nilesh Rane, following reliable information. The crime site was near SR Holiday Homes, Marquis Waddo, Candolim. Two persons namely Deepankar alias Deepak Sarkar and Anand Ramai Gauda were apprehended while striking a deal for the victim girls, including a foreigner at Candolim. The victim girls were rescued while the duo was arrested for their involvement in sex racket.
Earlier, the victim girls were sent to SR Holiday Homes, Candolim, by one Rohit from Bangalore and Asif from Delhi while the arrested persons were providing customers to the girls. The accused duo was living on the earnings of the sex racket. The Calangute Police have registered an offence under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 while the matter is being investigated.
PSI Mahesh Gadekar, Harish Naik, PC Vinod Naik, LPC Anita Pawaskar and NGO members were also part of the raid.
