Of course, unless proven otherwise, corruption has to be
exposed. One has to remember in politics there is no morality. Politicians will
do anything to gain a point in one-upmanship. So many politicians in our state
have corruption records that are unbelievable. As part of India against
Corruption we had several hunger strikes etc but what happened, nothing. People
like me are not wanted in politics. If you are clean you cannot be touched and
there cannot be a raid against you. Let us see if the charges are true I
against Mr Chidambaram) or false. If they are proven to be false then this
government will be shown to be vindictive. My family and I suffered all this in

On corruption anyone or everyone who is detained currently on
corruption related charges have an enquiry going on. The procedures are being
completed and one needs to see how the charges are filed and how does the state
then proceed further. Some statements given by Indrani Mukherjee may be a clue

government is trying to bring back Mallaya and others. We need to see what

5 days of custody is a big thing. In politics, whrnpoli/tical
leaders are arrested, the party considers it to be a political move. The Actual
decision will take ten yrs. People should get justice from Supreme Court. India
is the only country where it takes so much time. It is not uncommon for a
common man to spend ten years in jail and then be released by the court because
there was no case.

Obviously, under the law, everybody has to be treated at par.
But it did not happen during decades of Congress rule. And it is not happening
under BJP rule. On the face of it, the action of arresting Chidambaram may look
vindictive. On the other hand, there appears to be sufficient evidence to register
a serious, cognizable offence and under such circumstances, an arrest may
follow irrespective of the political standing of the accused. The issue is if
indeed Chidambaram has committed an offence should he not face the
circumstances because the action would look vindictive. The fact is governments
in power have always misused their positions to harass and intimidate their
opponents. The difference is the congress now finds himself at the wrong end of
the stick. Had the earlier Congress governments acted in good faith and created
an independent investigating agency, there may have been no grounds to accuse
the present government of vindictiveness.

Corruption is obviously something that needs to be appropriately
dealt with and eradicated to ensure the smooth and honest working of any
professional ecosystem. However, using it as a political tool or for personal
vendetta is wrong and discredits the entire purpose of it. There should be
total transparency in the process of carrying out this drive against corruption
to maintain its authenticity. All such agencies in charge of monitoring
corruption must follow constitutional guidelines.

The arrest of
Chidambaram is to create fear in the opposition. How else can one justify the
inaction against the Bellary brothers, and why is he required? The concept of
custodial interrogation is opposed to civilized criminal jurisprudence where
principle against self-incrimination has a special place. The offences
attributed to Chidambaram ought to be based upon documents and other evidence.
In any case jail is not the rule, bail is the rule but the fight against
corruption should not be stopped. The way the CBI has acted in this case, its
credibility has gone into the pit. That will only weaken the fight against
corruption as the investigative agency’s integrity is important
