CIBA to announce KBU winner on May 14

PANJIM: Kaun Banega Udyogpati (KBU) is finally taking shape and the date to announce the first winner is not too far. Yes, it is as close as May 14 and the winner of this KBU contest will be declared before a galaxy of experts in the field of start-ups.

PANJIM: Kaun Banega Udyogpati (KBU) is finally taking shape and the date to announce the first winner is not too far. Yes, it is as close as May 14 and the winner of this KBU contest will be declared before a galaxy of experts in the field of start-ups. The journey for this has been a short, busy and very crisp. Kaun Banega Udyogpati (KBU) is an innovative business idea competition aimed at providing a competitive platform for innovative thinkers and entrepreneurs to showcase and develop their idea into a commercial venture. 
About 659 applications were received by CIBA from individual, group of individuals and companies having an innovative business idea who are aiming to kick-start the venture from Goa. The screening committee shortlisted about 177 applications and now has zeroed down to 50. All these 50 applicants are now undergoing a formal 5-day training programme at CIBA’s Assagao campus.
“We have now selected 50 ideas to undergo training as part of the preparation for the finals. The training module is scheduled from April 20-24, 2016 (Wednesday to Sunday) starting at 9.30 am. All the participants will pitch their ideas on Sunday and the top 10 finalists will be selected on that day,” D S Prashant, General Manager, CIBA told Herald.
Prizes worth Rs 25 lakh will be awarded to the winners. This includes cash prize and seed funding. Besides the cash award, the winners will also be incubated and mentored at CIBA for a period of six months to commercialise the product /service.
