PANJIM: Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar said that the technology start-up competition will culminate into new innovations to start new IT ventures in the State.
“The Government is aiming to boost IT industry in the State and has been creating necessary infrastructure,” said Mr Parsekar while speaking as a Chief Guest at the prize distribution function organised by EDC. The EDC Ltd had organised ‘Technology Startup’ competition in which 35 start-up firms participated of which, eight were shortlisted as finalists.
The ‘Technology Start-up’ competition received a good response and among the eight finalists, Inventrom bagged the Chief Minister’s Award; Kellows Engineering Pvt Ltd and Browtape Technology Ltd took the second and third prize respectively.
The chief minister lauded the work done by EDC in the promotion of self employment through its CMRY scheme. The educated youth who intend to start business ventures have secured loans at lowest rates, become entrepreneurs and living a respected life. “Around 6000 beneficiaries have availed the benefit in which EDC have played important role. EDC has disbursed loan to the tune of Rs 1000 crore and I am happy to see that 89.76 per cent of the loans have either been cleared of is under regular payment by the beneficiaries”, the Chief Minister remarked.
Panjim MLA and chairman of EDC, Siddharth Kuncalienkar in his address said that the Government through EDC has encouraged Goan youth start their own business by giving loans under CMRY scheme. Santosh Kenkre, Vice-Chairman EDC while briefing about the Technology Startup competition conducted by EDC said that the motive of the competition was to encourage the youth who have secured IT education.
He said this competition has provided platform to IT educated from the state to showcase their talent and expressed satisfaction over the response to the competition.
