IDC tweaks rules to be industry friendly

PANJIM: The Board of the Industrial Development Corporation has passed new regulations that will now balance the minimum restrictions required for safety and requirements of Inspectorate of factories and also make it industrial friendly.

The chairman Ganesh Gaonkar said the new regulations in the building construction and land development regulations would now have to be notified.
The chairman said the feedback from the industry was that the provisions were too generalised and they were perceived as not being industry friendly.
A series of meetings were held and care was taken to include the requirement of Fire and Emergency Services, along with concerns of the industry.  The next board meeting is expected to be held in January.
