Jobs on offer, Goans need to take it

Goan graduates are looking for jobs, in Goa. Various organisations understanding this demand are doing their best and in fact helping the State government by providing the job aspirants a platform under one roof where they can chose their jobs. Availability of jobs in Goa is a question the entire State has been raising. Job fairs, career fairs which includes the ongoing Goa Bizfest organised by BNI-GEMS, are witnessing keen interest from aspirants. It is because the interests for government jobs are declining as there is no certainty for getting one as the numbers of applicants against vacancies is too high. Also, “job security” in government is not guaranteed as it has been in the past.
Recently it has been noticed that Goan companies are coming forward under one roof which turns out to be a win-win situation, both for employers and the prospective employees. The ongoing Goa Bizfest 2018 is one such platform where about 76 companies are sitting in various stalls waiting for the ‘right’ candidate to visit them for a job.
In the career fair organised by BNI-GEMS of Goa parallel to the three-day Goa Bizfest 2018, about 1635 job registrations has been on the second day of the event. About 50 companies have their stalls but altogether 76 companies are interested in recruiting Goans. Approximately about 600 Goans have already been shortlisted and have been given offer for a job.
Managing Director of ManUnited, a company which host at least two career fairs every month countrywide and which has 150 companies as his client, Kangralkar Ravindrra said, “We have about thousand jobs available with us all across India and all are of different types of jobs. What I still feel that there is gap between the private sector and the job aspirants. We as social recruiters are not asking any cut from our client, nor from the job aspirant and we have developed a new technique of doing our business. We connect industry with educational institutions under one roof.”
Mr Ravindrra added that, “companies like Mphasis and Manpower are having huge number of people working under their brand on a third-party payroll and thus 55,000 jobs have been created all across India or globally. We are aware that these people are interested in taking Goan candidates and Goans need a secured job. We are also creating the awareness that free portals are available all across India for jobs.” He however, expressed concern that job aspirant do “trade and negotiate” their offer letter across different companies for better pay package calling it a “problem of the aspirants”, and that is what it un-nerves the people who are in the business of offering jobs.
President of Goa Entrepreneurs Mentoring Services Trust (GEMS), Manoj Patil was of the view that people in Goa need jobs and we are providing them the same under one roof where they can chose their employers and their level of comfort. “It is an excellent beginning and we will take this to an end. It simply does not end here with the end of this event.”
CEO of GEMS, Mr Jervis Pereira said that the foremost motto of GEMS is employability, education and entrepreneurship. “We saw here that it was an en excellent response here and we are encouraged by it as it is helping the Goans getter placement under one roof. The journey does not end here and we will continue this effort till it meets the end.”
