Lava International Limited, attracted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ concept, is looking at India as an alternative to China to set up it manufacturing base. The Company, headquartered in Noida, is in talks with other Indian locations including Bangalore, Hyderabad and Goa to set up a local production unit.
The leading smart phone company will be the first unit to be set up in Tuem Electronic City, which is expected to be ready by December this year. The unit will be set up in approximately 50 acres of land.
With the proposed International Airport at Mopa, planned as a cargo hub, Lava International is looking at Tuem as the best option for export.
The company, which sells Lava and Xolo brand smart phones, is in talks with the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) and the final proposal will be out post-discussion on taxation and incentives the State offers.
A senior official confirmed that Lava International would be the first international smart phone company investing in the State. “If everything goes well, the unit will be set up in Tuem Electronic city,” the official said adding, that work on the city has begun with all infrastructure ready latest by December end.
The IPB has thus far approved 39 investment projects, which include new as well as expansion plans of existing industries.
