‘Explicit’ Christmas Event in Arambol Sparks Outrage Across Goa

The ‘Tales of Kamasutra & Christmas Celebration’ scheduled in Arambol, Goa from December 25 to 28, 2025, has ignited strong public controversy. Organised by the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation, the event is advertised as a blend of meditation with themes from the Kamasutra, sparking outrage among local NGOs and citizens.

Several groups allege that it promotes sexual activities and commercial sexual exploitation under the guise of a spiritual gathering, tarnishing Goa’s family-friendly and religious image during Christmas. NGOs such as Arz and Bailancho Ekvott have urged police to investigate the legitimacy and intentions of the organisers. The controversy extends to the tourism sector with warnings that such events harm Goa’s reputation and promote sex tourism. Organisers, led by Manjit Singh of the Osho Ludhiana Meditation Society, insist the event is purely meditative and denies any association with open sexual conduct, citing previous similar events held peacefully in Goa.
