Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has said that AI-based traffic cameras installed in Goa are still in the trial phase, while the number of traffic violations detected has declined to a few hundred, indicating improved compliance among motorists.
Godinho said the reduction in violations suggests that motorists are becoming more conscious of traffic rules and regulations following the introduction of the camera-based monitoring system.

He also pointed out that motorists are increasingly visiting Pollution Under Control (PUC) centres and obtaining mandatory third-party insurance, which he said reflects greater compliance with vehicle-related regulations.
The minister stressed that the objective of the government’s AI-based traffic enforcement system is not to generate revenue through fines but to promote traffic discipline and encourage motorists to comply with the law.
He said the focus remains on improving road safety and ensuring that motorists follow traffic regulations rather than merely penalising those who violate them.
