The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has issued notices to the Chief Executive Engineer of the Department of Drinking Water, the Member Secretary of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the management of Club Mahindra Resort in Assonora following a complaint alleging severe pollution of the Par River.
The complaint was filed by local residents, who alleged that pollution of the Par River is posing a serious threat to the water source that serves the entire Bardez taluka.

The residents have raised concerns over the alleged contamination of the river and its potential impact on public health and access to safe drinking water.
Taking cognisance of the complaint, the GHRC has directed all the respondents to submit their replies before the Commission on August 26, 2026.
The Commission’s notices come amid concerns over the protection of vital water sources and the need for authorities to ensure that pollution does not compromise the availability and quality of drinking water in the region.
