It has been ten long
years since the inception of SulaFest and the annual affair has all but aged
like a fine wine! From registering an attendance of 300 people in its first
year in 2008, SulaFest has come a long way with over 13,000 visitors last year.
Now, in its tenth year, the good peeps at Sula have tinkered around with the
festival a bit to make it bigger and better, and it looks like they’ve got just
the right recipe for a weekend of soulful music, great wine and much much more!
Camp it out
The weather will be nice
and chilly with quite a nip in the air. Book one of the many tents set up at
the campsite, about 300 metres from the amphitheatre and get cosy in the
company of friends or, well, wine.
New additions
SulaFest is a three-day
affair now. The makers of the festival have shown their generous side and, on
the occasion of its tenth anniversary, increased the festival’s duration to
three days as opposed to the previous two-day celebrations. Also, if the 100 performances last year
weren’t enough, the makers of the festival have listed 120 performances
this year across genres, and to take the excess load, there is an all new stage
that is debuting at SulaFest 2017! The Greek style amphitheatre
and the second stage, Atmasphere, now have the company of a third music arena,
Tropical, that will allow bringing in more artistes from around the world.
Music
Prepare to be blown away
by headlining acts like Bloc Party, Dubioza Kolektiv, Afro Celt Sound System,
SwinGrowers and Infected Mushroom. With the exception of Infected Mushroom, all
the aforementioned acts will be performing in India for the first time ever!
There are many more including Nucleya, Indian Ocean, Ska Vengers, The Raghu
Dixit Project and others who’ve got your weekend sorted.
Food and drinks
The food court will be
buzzing with representation from the likes of the Bombay Food Truck, Busago,
Mainland China, Maroosh and Woodside Inn and many more. Needless to say, great food to go with a wide selection
of wine and drinks is something you can be sure of.
What else?
Pamper yourself with some
foot massages, decode your life problems with tarot reading, indulge in some
incessant grape stomping and if none of this works, the wine tours and tastings
are sure to keep you in happy spirits, quite literally! (hic!)
