A family melodrama full of twists and turns

The curtains unfold to a scene wherein a mother leaves her newborn by the roadside and goes in search of food. Meanwhile, presuming that the child is abandoned, it is picked up by a stranger. When the mother returns, she finds her newborn missing and she decides to end her life. But a priest intervenes and tells her to take the path to nunhood.

The story revolves around Lucas (Dominic Carvalho), who is a builder by profession, his spouse Rita (Mona) and their two sons, Rio (Cyril) and Chris (Manu), who is differently-abled. On the other hand, there is Justin (Lino) and his only daughter Myra (Melinda), who is highly educated.

Lucas tries to give a lot of love and attention to the differently-abled Chris, while his wife Rita has a soft corner for the eldest son Rio. Rio is in love with Justin’s daughter Myra.

When Justin comes to know about his daughter’s involvement with Rita’s son Rio, he is happy and obliges. His blind acceptance is only to take revenge due to prior affairs and rejection by Rita.

Whose child is Chris? Why so much hatred towards him by Rita? Will Chris find his blood relations and where? What cooks up between the two families? Watch the second half and the last scene of the drama for the unveiling of several truths.

Dominic Carvalho’s tiatr ‘Mhojem Kalliz Otrekta’ is a family melodrama, carrying a good storyline, with several twists and turns and a good dose of suspense. There are good dialogues, arguments and counter-arguments among the actors.

As guardians, Dominic and Rita have played convincing roles. They are ably supported by Cyril and Manu and the latter depicts his deficiency confidently. Myra is bold in her acts and dialogues. Lino plays the negative role and he does it with ease. Diago and Eleuterio make a cameo as a priest and police officer respectively, but the latter is firm in his speech in the concluding scene.

In the comic acts, there’s comedian Aston taking along with him Felcy, Ronny and Felton and they entertain. A joke about lottery tickets is old and exaggeration here and there could have been avoided.

For the listening pleasure of the audience, comedian Aston comes on stage with the opening song, followed by solos from Melissa, Peter de Colva, Conception de Tuem, Marcus Vaz, Ronny, Shanice, Melinda and Lino. There are other songs rendered by Peter de Colva, Aston and Conception de Tuem, Aston and Melissa. Francis and his band members have provided good music to motivate the singers on stage.
