The concept of crowdfunding is just
entering the Indian market and 18-year-old Siddharth Shetty from Miramar has
taken the lead with Fundlined, a platform to collect funds for campaigns based
in India. With seven campaigns in his kitty in just one month since the launch
of Fundlined, Siddharth is feeling pretty confident.
The son of Christine and Kiran Shetty,
Siddharth is a class XII student of Mushtifund Aryan Higher Secondary School,
Panjim. He was struck by the idea of crowdfunding when he heard it over a radio
show. “It was in April 2013 and I had just completed my Class XI exams. I did
some research on the concept and found out that it was huge in America but
there was nothing much happening in India., says Siddharth.
The team at Fundlined consists of 15
students and professionals from different parts of India with Siddharth being
the youngest member. If you have an idea and can’t materialise it due to funds,
you can create a campaign and receive funding from across the world through
this portal. It can be for anything from short films, art, writing to
technology.
“There is a team that can help a creator
put up a video explaining their campaign. There are certain guidelines and
quality standard checks. Currently, we have a campaign for an ambulance on
Fundlined and a team from India that wants to participate in a 16,000 km road
trip from London to Mongolia in a 14-year-old car for a cause,” adds the young
entrepreneur.
