“You become what your company is. Similarly, what you say or write gets into the minds
of people. Therefore you need to speak, write and think good and people will
remember you,” said Fr Vital Miranda, Parish Priest of Guardian Angel Church,
while speaking as the Chief Guest at the book release ceremony of ‘Novi Dixa’ a
collection of poems in Konkani Roman scripted by Edvin Fernandes organised by
Dalgado Konknni Academy (DKA) on September 16, 2018 at Santeri Temple Community
Hall, Xelvona, Curchorem. Earlier he congratulated and gave his blessings to
the rising Konkani writer. Panch member of Xelvona Panchayat Manoj Naik, DKA
President Tomazinho Cardozo, Secretary Vincy Quadros and the writer, Edvin
Fernandes, shared the dais with the Chief Guest.
Both Manoj Naik and Tomazinho Cardozo shared their opinion and
expressed happiness that Edvin write in Konkani and requested him to serve the
Konkani literary world with zeal and passion for many years.
‘Novi Dixa’, a collection of 84 poems, was released under the
DKA ‘Kombri’ scheme, instituted to encourage young and upcoming Konkani
writers.
Edvin Fernandes dedicated his book to his late mother,
Minguelina Fernandes. Edvin thanked all those who helped him in bringing this
book to light and expressed happiness that the release ceremony was held in his
village, Xelvona.
The
ceremony commenced with a short entertainment programme. Anslon D’Costa,
Vanessa Mascarenhas, Duella Fernandes, Ashlon Mascarenhas, Asinya Mascarenhas,
Clara Pereira and Ajosie Rodrigues took part in the programme. Mathew D’Costa,
DKA Working Committee member compered the event and Vincy Quadros proposed a
vote of thanks.
