Have you ever tried to recollect the math formulae you studied in Std X, years later? Difficult, isn’t it? But remembering things like poems and nursery rhymes is much easier, probably because of their melodious base. Learning and performing using music as an aid has proven to be quite effective and Brooke Hart, a well known teacher, performer and author, will be teaching such techniques through Super Star X-Mas Camp, a learning workshop for children in the age group of 7-18 years from December 26 to 30, 2014 at Don Bosco Oratory hall, Panjim from 9am to 3pm.
Surprisingly, she believes that this short period is enough for children to learn the technique of studying with the help of music as it is so easy to pick up. “This is a special event offered to assist children with music, theatre, dance, speed learning techniques and to boost confidence in every area of life,” says Brooke who is conducting the camp along with Babaji Maharaj, celebrity guru from the US. They are currently on a world tour to promote peace and prosperity. The camp originated in Hawaii, US.
Brooke has developed specialised techniques that allowed children to learn quickly while having fun. These techniques helped boost their confidence as well as their ability to learn various topics. “My brother was finding it hard to memories his notes so my father and I decided to use music to help him. We created songs that were easy to pick up and it boosted his confidence. I use a different psychological approach to train children. Children who would usually take 3-4 months to study a lesson, now take only 3-4 weeks through this technique,” explains
Brooke.
Trained in classical music since the age of 5, Brooke began her performance career at the age of 7. She has toured the United States, Europe, India and the Middle East. Her performances include classical solo piano performances as well as her own plays and compositions.
She is also a recording artist, with her release, ‘Whispers of Light’.
Brooke has implemented other skills that are important for life decisions, creating teachings for a positive future for children. “The camp includes learning for problem solving, personal decision making, team building and confidence boosting and uses positive reinforcement
to help children move forward. The camp combines these into powerful games and activities, allowing children to have fun while learning,” she informs. She is also offering performances of her original music to compliment the camp. She performed at Kala Academy and the Art Chamber and will perform at the Christmas Midnight Mass at the Exposition of Saint Francis Xavier in Old Goa. The world tour will continue throughout Europe and to Vatican City with a special performance for the Pope. Babaji Maharaj comes from a background of working with celebrities from around the world including Hollywood actors such as Sylvester Stallone and bands such as Grateful Dead, ACDC and Jethro Tull and even director Martin Scorsese. The duo are currently on a global talent search for a preproduction of a Super Star Show which will be televised locally and internationally while offering an alternative platform for all children to rise to their best.
